Becoming

Growing into the likeness of Jesus Christ.

“And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind.”

Romans 12:2a · KJV

Transformation reaches the whole life

Romans 12:1–2 follows Paul’s appeal to the mercies of God. The renewed life is a response to mercy, not an attempt to earn it. God calls us to present ourselves to Him and allow His truth to reshape our thinking. Becoming like Christ concerns our character, desires, relationships, and conduct—not merely our religious vocabulary.

Growth is the work of the Spirit

The fruit of the Spirit includes love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance (Galatians 5:22–23). These qualities develop as we walk in the Spirit and respond to correction. Prayer, Scripture, fellowship, and daily obedience give practical expression to that walk. Maturity includes repentance when we fall short and renewed dependence on God.

Practice the teaching

Read Romans 12:1–2 and Colossians 3:12–17. Choose one relationship in which patience, forgiveness, or truthful speech needs to grow. Establish a small daily practice of reading, prayer, and reflection, and ask a trusted believer to encourage your progress. Ask: What response would reflect Christ more faithfully in this situation?
